You’re showing up to the gym; you might as well do it right.
It makes no sense to go to the gym and not focus on optimizing your efforts.
You’ve already done the hard part — the part that gets most people:
You’re there.
You showed up. Good job!
So why not adjust a few key things to make sure that you’re getting the best ROI on your time?
These habits don’t cost more time, and they’ll drastically improve your performance and improvement at the gym.
Always Cool Down After
When you exercise, you turn on your sympathetic nervous system.
Epinephrine and norepinephrine are released — and you’re technically stressing and damaging your body.
Exercise is only good because of the recovery adaptation
When you cool down after a training session, you trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the “rest and digest.”
This tells your body to relax and that it’s safe. This primes you for recovery.
Take at least 5 minutes to stretch and relax after you’ve done a workout.
