I’ve been told that I need a “hook” at the start of each article, to convince people to keep reading, so here it is. The Romanian Deadlift will:

  • Make you more flexible.
  • Make your core stronger and more durable.
  • Improve your grip strength
  • Boost your metabolism (really!)
  • Burn just silly amounts of fat.
  • Build the entire back of your body.

The hamstrings are some of the most underdeveloped and over-ignored muscles in the human body, which is a shame because they are vital when it comes to displaying anything that even remotely resembles athleticism.

No, that doesn’t mean getting up out of your chair for a second helping of pie. If you want to run fast, jump high, squat and deadlift big weights, or just be an overall halfway decent human being, a heaping helping of hamstrings is a must.

The key of the Romanian deadlift (also known as the “RDL”) is to keep the movement strict. I’ve cheated this movement in the past, and it’s never turned out as well as just staying strict.
