As you age, stability becomes more important.
The risk of falling down increases with age, and so do the chances of serious injury from said falls. These can literally kill you — a surprising and disturbing statistic I recently found out was that falls are the leading cause of death for people aged 65 and over. But regardless, stability is important for everyone from office workers to experienced athletes irrespective of their age.
Increased stability is also linked with having higher-self confidence — according to new studies done at Harvard University. So let’s have a look at how you too can be healthier, more stable, and more confident by doing just five easy exercises.
1. Standing On One Leg
Standing on one leg can help you to strengthen your core, hips, and lower extremities — that means your feet and ankles. It’s a simple and easy exercise that almost anyone can do. It also helps to correct power imbalances in your legs (for most people, one leg is stronger and more coordinated than the other).
