These days it’s all about the benefits of going to the gym or fitness, especially the looks department.

But we often ignore the downsides of some things which might hurt down the road.

Imagine something that should make your life better makes it worse than before.

Such is human nature and the conditioning by society.

We are consuming media more than ever in human history.

Access to the visuals of the top 1% of people who won the genetic lottery (in terms of looks) makes us insecure about our appearance.

You know what I am talking about if you watch shows and movies or spend too much on social media.

Almost every celebrity on the screen stays in great shape with clear skin and excellent hair.

Individuals don’t even realize how it’s affecting them in a pretty narcissistic way where nothing in life matters more than looks.

Are you suffering from Body Dysmorphia?

Body Dysmorphia is a condition where he/she spends a lot of time judging their appearance.

They complain about their flaws or imperfections.

Oftentimes they compare themselves with the most attractive online personalities.

They want to be the most perfect-looking person alive and anything short of that would piss them off.

All their self-worth depends on appearance and nothing else matters.

They are not even aware that most celebrities and models are using PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) which have long-term bad effects on health.

They also have gone through a few surgeries to hide imperfections.

In modern-day, almost everyone is having this disease due to excessive use of social media.

Going too far can result in a very bad mental health condition.

To identify if you are suffering from it, answer the following questions:

Do you look in the mirror at every possible moment?

Do you compare yourself to celebrities and models?

Do you want to transform as soon as possible?

Do you want to impress people with your looks?

The Solution

Unfortunately, there’s no one size fits all solution here.

But the most effective one would be to get off social media for a few days and even weeks if you have it way worse.

Try digital detox and make sure to keep your usage minimized after the return.

Don’t go back to the old habits which made you go through all those self-deprecating stuff.

On the flip side don’t let yourself lose, stay fit and healthy.

Exercise and eat clean every day.

Don’t go overboard with the workouts, keep it simple.

You are beautiful and unique.

Don’t let someone tell you otherwise.

Remember that for god and your parents, you are extraordinary.

It doesn’t matter what a random person on the street thinks about you.

Final Words

As a previous victim of this mental condition, I wanted to share the tips which helped me along the way. Stay away from social media.

Also cut down on movies and shows.

Don’t let your outside dictate who you are and be mentally tough to not get influenced by these things.

At the end of the day, don’t take health for granted, and stay healthy but don’t go too far and don’t overthink it.
