A few weeks ago, I had some sort of a wake-up call courtesy of Dr. Mike Israetel of Renaissance Periodization.

He explained the difference in training for beginners, intermediate, and advanced, and it really struck a chord. Here’s what he said:

If you just keep getting bigger and stronger, automatically, you just keep getting awesome all the time, you’re a beginner for sure. This could last for YEARS if you have really good genetics.
