You deserve to be enjoying the best of the best for ingredients. High up on your list of priorities will be fruits and veggies and, in that list, superfoods. Are all superfoods the same? Do they all feature the same potency from one location to another?

Location, the integrity of the superfoods, and how they’re prepared are all going to factor in deciding what you really should be trusting for your dietary choices. Here’s what you need to know!

What makes NZ superfoods so powerful?

It’s all about the sun! You hear so many people talking about New Zealand’s incredible growing environment because of the natural ozone hole that sends extra UV strength to the fields and crops.

These UV rays stress the crops out and force them to produce extra phytonutrients to protect themselves. Their own UV protection, if you will. This translates to more active ingredients through a stronger potency in the crop when it is harvested.

What are examples of superfoods?

1. Spinach: This prompts eye health, bone health, skin health and can offer immunity support and help with your gut health for a little bit of everything.

2. Purple carrot: A powerful polyphenol, these particular kinds of carrots have potent antioxidants in them. They are rich in dietary fiber, vitamin K, potassium, and manganese, just to name a few.

3. Kiwifruit: Kiwifruit will be a great source of vitamin C. It also helps strengthen your immunity with its potent antioxidant count too. It also has dedicated fiber to help you enjoy a sweeter choice for your gut’s benefit!

4. Quinoa: Whether or not you can say it correctly, it has a high antioxidant count, is high in iron, and also contains fiber and amino acids.

5. Broccoli sprouts: Another choice rich in antioxidants, broccoli sprouts can support detoxing and general digestive comfort while loading your diet with vitamins and minerals.

6. Pumpkin: More than just a flavor favorite, pumpkin itself has a lot of vitamins for immunity boosting and dedicated vitamin A to help protect your eyesight. It also is a solid antioxidant source.

7. Beans: A great choice when looking for satisfying protein, folate, and gut support, different types of beans are popular choices for a reason.

But here comes a common problem: taste. Healthy food very rarely tastes good. Unless, of course, you put the time and effort into preparing it properly. However, by going with a superfood supplement, you can take taste and preparation right out of it and replace it with convenience.

Regardless of which choice you make, you’ll need to focus on sourcing your chosen superfoods/superfood ingredients. This is where the potential of New Zealand comes in.

So why are NZ-sourced superfoods the right way to go?

If you’re picturing a field full of sunburnt and dried-up crops, we won’t blame you. However, this is not the case. Instead, picture vital, vibrant, healthy crops that are going to look 10 times as good as even the best-grown crop from elsewhere.

There is strength in NZ crops that results in the ingredients sourced from there being more potent in their nutritional profile than anywhere else in the world. Omega-3 Black is an excellent example of that. Relying on wild-harvested NZ-sourced green-lipped mussel oil and other NZ ingredients, some of which include kiwifruit seed oil and blackcurrant extract, this omega-3 supplement looks entirely different from any others on the market.

The main difference that you’ll find waiting for you is in its potency compared to other omega-3 supplements. This directly relates to better effectiveness for those who need it.

Sourcing does make all of the difference when it comes to doing what you can to protect your health. Whether you go with a classic superfood or a supplement equivalent, the environment from which it comes will be crucial.
