Many people like to say “Go hard or go home.” But let’s see what the concept behind the expression looks like when applied to fitness, physical shape, and athletic performance.

First of all, always work out (practice, or train, depending on your level) in a safe way. Learn the right technique first and foremost, then focus on speed. This way you avoid injuries, a must, and you become more efficient, which also leads to a number of benefits. Also, listen to your body. There is no benefit if one has to finish strong a 10k in practice session just to mess their knee up and be unable to run for three months afterwards.

There are many different physical activities which take many different shapes and forms. For example, one can go for a run slow and steady (LISS, for ‘low-intensity steady-take’), long and slow, short and fast, intervals (such as HIIT, for ‘high-intensity interval training’), hills, following a program or not, preparing for a race or not, and more.
