I’m a clinical registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist working in a hospital on Long Island, New York. I also give seminars and media interviews on nutrition, health, and wellness.

Sometimes it’s easy to teach about health and nutrition and make recommendations, but it’s easy to forget that my advice also applies to me.

So this is my reality check and a good reason to tweak my own habits.

And my ex will be there. I haven’t seen him in four years, and that’s fine. I don’t care about what he thinks. I do want my former in-laws to think I look great. I’d rather impress them. They’re happy for me.

But mostly I want to impress myself.
