How Regular Exercise Can Boost Your Daily Happiness
Exercise makes you happier than money does
The happiest people are not the ones with the most money, but the ones who regularly work out.
Let that sink in. It’s exercise, not money, that leads to daily happiness.
Are you exercising almost every day? If not, you could be happier.
Research by Yale and Oxford discovered that regular exercise is more vital to good mental health than how much money you have.
Researchers analyzed data about the mental health of more than 1.2 million Americans. They learned that participants in the research who made exercise a priority felt bad about 35 days a year, on average. Those participants who didn’t exercise didn’t feel good for 53 days a year.
Participants who exercised found that their negative feelings were reduced by 11% just by working out. Participants could choose from 75 types of physical activity. This ranged from mowing the lawn to taking care of children, doing housework, lifting weights, cycling, and running.
Exercise and non-exercise participants were also asked about their income. Researchers found that the participants who exercised felt as good as non-exercising participants who earned $25,000 more per year.
