Emperor penguins are known to be some of the most resilient living creatures on earth. They are able to survive some of the harshest Antarctican environments in sub-zero temperatures and fierce winds. They travel over 50 miles for 2 to 3 months, to the sea to gather food, and regardless of what happens, these loyal penguins will always come back to their breeding colonies to share their catch and feed the young.

I remembered watching the documentary film “March of the Penguins” by French filmmaker Luc Jacquet when it was first released and admired these penguins’ resilience. Call it nature’s work or natural selection, it still amazes me how these loving species can defy all odds, never bow down to failures, and always bounce back. They continue their march gloriously, bringing their gathered food back to their colonies.

It is no wonder they are named the “Emperor”, rightfully apt for becoming an overcomer, but also since it is the largest penguin species, standing at 100cm/45 inches tall.

Watching these penguins have taught me a thing or two about resilience.
