Push-ups are awesome.

They’re the most portable upper body exercise out there and also serve many purposes.

They train your chest, shoulders and triceps through a range of motion, but they also train your trunk stability in a similar manner to the plank.

One issue is the barrier to entry. If you can’t do a full push-up, they can be frustratingly hard to train.

Let’s resolve that frustration.

Here are three fantastic alternative exercises you can use to develop your push-up, if you can’t do a full, body weight push-up just yet.

1. Negative Push-up
