How to Make Simple Healthy Foods for Novices
You don’t need special training or skills to make inexpensive, healthy meals
The past year was undoubtedly extra hard for folks who do not cook. I get it. I am retired and have time, but my wife and I usually cooked at home, even while working. Most of us live busy lives — jobs, kids, chores, etc. Who has time to cook when you can eat out or pick up meals? The pandemic thrust many folks into the kitchen who only used it for making coffee or entertaining. I never understood how couples could eat virtually every meal out, but that’s a subject for another day.
Even if you are a rank amateur in the kitchen, healthy, delicious, and cheap meals are simple to prepare. Start with a plan. Know that unless you are Bobby Flay, everyone who has ever cooked makes mistakes and rarely gets things right the first time. Trial and error is a cornerstone of great cooking. The following are a few examples of minimalist meals. Some can be made ahead of time.
