I Didn’t Shampoo My Hair for 3 Months

Years ago, I was reading a lot about health and toxicity, and I came across this theory that if you stop using shampoo, your hair will get a new lease of life, with great volume and shine.

Proponents said that your hair will benefit from natural oils, which would otherwise be stripped away by the harsh detergents in shampoo. This prevents your hair from drying out and becoming brittle. It makes your locks look more vibrant and healthier than ever before!

What could possibly go wrong?

According to Healthline, the benefits of ditching shampoo include, and I quote:

  1. healthier hair and scalp that produces a balanced amount of oil.
  2. more voluminous hair.
  3. better textured hair and less need for styling products.
  4. less exposure to potentially irritating chemicals.
  5. less plastic packaging waste. (source: Healthline)

I decided to try it. After all, I’m a big fan of ditching nasty chemicals. When I did this experiment, I’d already eliminated most cleaning products from our home, as well as make up, synthetic skincare products, and processed foods.
