It all felt very hocus pocus.

When I first came across a video on “Shadow Work”, I was 99.99% sure it was all an absurd practice and just another way for some random influencer to charge you with their course or journal.

But then I found articles on reputable websites explaining the practice and offering tips on how to do it.

To say I was confused would be an understatement.

Intrigued, I researched, and it turns out Shadow Work is actually a form of psychotherapy that involves exploring our repressed emotions, fears, and desires to uncover our deepest selves and achieve personal growth.

According to Jungian psychology, we all have a persona — the personality we show to the public — and a shadow self. The latter is private as it often includes traits we don’t like to show or that we aren’t even aware that we have.
