I know what you’re thinking.

Another story by a gym rat obsessed with improving her metrics.

No. This is a story by someone more focused on recovery than performance. A somewhat hypochondriac who got a Whoop 4.0 to track health parameters and live a more well-rounded life.

The market offers plenty of wearables, so why get Whoop? It claims to be the best fitness tracker on the market. But my decision was supported by the advice of two people I respect, both Whoop wearers: my sister, and Steven Bartlett.

Now it’s time to pay it forward and share with you my two cents about it. Ready to dive in?

How Does Whoop Work?

Whoop measures three main areas: Sleep, Recovery, and Strain. Within these, it keeps track of several parameters:

  • Sleep: Sleep performance, time in bed, hours vs need, consistency, restorative sleep, efficiency, and sleep debt.
  • Recovery: Heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, and respiratory rate.
  • Strain: Day strain, average heart rate, and calories.
