I heard about the “wedding body” from many former brides before me. It didn’t resonate with me.

But when it came time for me to walk down the aisle, I suddenly realised what they were discussing.

It was the one day of my life when all eyes were on me, including the unforgiving lens of a professional photographer’s camera.

I wanted to look and feel my absolute best going into it. It was the start of something extraordinary in my life, and I wanted to begin knowing I was in the best shape.

Twelve months before my wedding, I found a personal training studio near my house. It was one of those gyms that offered unlimited sessions, sold with a higher membership cost.

I didn't mind the money. I wanted to work out and someone to take some of the thinking out of the process.

There was enough going on with planning the wedding itself that it was nice not to use so much brain power when I worked out.
