Walking can do so much for your health, body and soul.

It’s my saving grace when I need to get outdoors, unwind and switch off for 20, 30 or 60 minutes.

As much as I appreciate the impact lifting weights has on my physique and mental health, walking provides another low-impact outlet and is just as beneficial.

Aiming for those magical 10K steps per day is wonderful.

However, having something to keep yourself accountable for is the best way to make a difference in your physical fitness.

People tend to have healthier habits and live a whole lot longer.

Two large studies ascertained that 10k steps are the most prevalent number required to greatly reduce your chances of dementia, heart disease, cancer and death.

But, if you can’t walk that much daily, one aspect is sufficient to produce the same results.

Researchers from the University of Sydney and South Denmark found that walking faster could lead to an equivalent reduction in risk when people couldn’t manage to hit the 10K mark.
