People have never better understood the importance of a strong immunity as in these pandemic times. Most of us now follow a self-care routine for building great immunity and keeping ourselves healthy. But there might be some lesser noticed deeds you do, that might have a detrimental effect on your immunity. In this article, let’s look at some worst self-care habits that might harm your immunity.

1. Lack of proper Nutrition

A diet rich in complex carbohydrates, high-quality protein, healthy fats, and plenty of vitamins and minerals can do wonders to your disease-fighting ability. Such diets often help your body optimize your immune system, serve as natural detox and protect your body from oxidative damage as well. An improper diet weakens the immune system by limiting the provision of essential nutrients for maintaining proper immune components.

2. Poor sleeping pattern

Most of us tend to trade sleep with workload and entertainment. Sleeping less than 6 hours can degrade your immune system, weaken your immune response and reduce the production of infection-fighting cells. It’s while you sleep that your body starts a fully-fledged war against infections. Lack of sleep also increases susceptibility to infections.

3. Being physically inactive

Getting 20–40 minutes of exercise every day will boost your immune system. Physical inactivity might also cause increased fat accumulation leading to several other diseases. Proper physical activity helps adequate production of immune cells especially T- cells. It improves the defense mechanism, metabolic health and promotes natural weight loss.

4. Smoking and Alcoholism

These are two notorious culprits of health. Several compounds in cigarette smoke interfere with immune response and also depletes the antioxidant stored in the body. Binge intake of alcohol can delay the identification of potential infections, thus delaying immune response causing more harm. It suppresses your immune health by unbalancing the gut microbiome and impairing the function of immune cells. If you have such habits, try out an effective herbal detox cleanse capsule for clearing out the accumulated toxins.

5. Improper intake of supplements

Having a healthy diet is often enough for us to meet every nutrient requirement. Some of us might take unwanted nutrient supplements to further improve the immune system but this will do more harm than good. Natural and herbal detox supplements are better than the ones stuffed with chemicals.

6. Improper hydration

Drinking adequate water helps to flush out unwanted toxins, and microbes from our bodies thus acting as a natural detox. Water is necessary for the proper functioning of every system including the immune system. Adequate hydration ensures the proper circulation of immune cells and components throughout the body. It helps with kidney cleansing too.

7. High-stress levels

High-stress levels produce hormones like cortisol that decrease the production of T cells and increase the production of inflammation markers like cytokines and chemokines. In the long run, this causes chronic stress which is the foundation of several menacing lifestyle diseases.

Don’t let these easily modifiable habits steal away your health. Do you have any of these bad habits? Comment below.
