Credited for forging the muscles of Jason Momoa—the AR-7 programme promises superior strength in a short time

A low weight, low rep workout that is said to build muscle at an accelerated rate — it sounds too good to be true… and it sort of is.

The Accelerated Results 7 (AR-7) was developed by Eric Laciste in order to get Jason Mamoa in shape for his role in Conan the Barbarian (2011). With Schwarzenegger as his predecessor, Momoa had a tall order to fill — he had to be able to pack on the muscle while staying cut. In the 6-weeks they had to prepare, Momoa reportedly gained 25-pounds of lean muscle mass following the programme.

With results like that, you’re probably thinking; “Sign me up!” But there’s a slight catch — the workouts are intense. And I’m not talking ‘15-minutes-of-interval-sprints-on-the-treadmill’ intense, I’m talking ‘holy-crap-my-limbs-are-about-to-fall-off-someone-please-save-me’ intense. Sets and Reps

Each exercise consists of 3 rounds with 1–2 minutes rest between each round;

  • 1st round: 7 sets of 7 reps, with 7 seconds rest between each set
