Do you ever think about your bones? Most of us don’t unless something goes wrong, we feel them aching or popping, or something breaks. It’s so easy to go through daily life without giving the bones a second thought.

I remember my mom and grandmother used to always say “old Arthur” was making their bones hurt (referring to arthritis). And they’d say that it was just a part of getting older.

But I don’t agree that brittle, deteriorating bones are necessarily a given with age. The human body is programmed better than that. If this wasn’t the case, everyone over a certain age would be falling apart at the seams, not just some people.

The truth is we can make our bones weak.

It doesn’t just happen.

There’s much you can do to keep your bones strong like exercise, not smoking, and getting enough vitamin D and calcium.

But, there’s one habit many people need to eliminate because it breaks down the bones — and that’s consuming too much sugar.
