Why Massage Therapy Won’t Help You in the Long Term
While it may feel good, we must beware of its limitations
If you’re looking to relieve pain, massage therapy is virtually never going to be your answer. It’s that simple. While there are specific scenarios when getting a massage is appropriate, we cannot view it as a go-to rehab strategy. There are several reasons why this intervention is overrated, but the most critical point is that we grow dependent on a solution that doesn’t get to the root of the problem.
If you love getting massages, this post is not about discouraging you from booking your next appointment. I too have had wonderful experiences when I utilize massage therapy in the right way. I would be doing everyone a disservice, however, if the limitations of this service were not clearly laid out.
If you’re battling with physical pain, whether chronic or acute, there is hope for you. Just know that your solution is rarely going to be found on a massage table.
