I was so much worried about my health. I watched so many videos on YouTube related to exercise but all in vain. It didn’t work for me. Then one day I was searching on YouTube for something related to health, when suddenly my eyes fell on the video of Surya Namaskar. I opened that video and my eyes were glued on that video.

In that video the benefits of Surya Namaskar were told. How to do Surya Namaskar? What benefits does it give to the body? How many asanas are mentioned in it?

Surya Namaskar is considered to be the best of the Yogasanas. It’s like a warm-up in Yoga. Only it’s regular practice makes you fit always. By doing this daily, your body becomes healthy and glowing. Surya Namaskar is useful for all of us. Everyone can do this.

When will do Surya Namaskar?

The best time in the morning. Surya Namaskar should be practiced on an empty stomach by laying a Yoga Mat in an open airy place.

Your mind should be calm during Surya Namaskar only then you will get the full benefits on your body and mind. Regular practice of Surya Namaskar increases the physical and mental energy with the power of thought and memory are also intensified.

Asanas of Surya Namaskar

There are 12 steps in the Surya Namaskar which are as follows:

  1. Pranamasana (Prayer Pose)
  2. Urdhva Hastasana (Upward Salute)
  3. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend)
  4. Ashwa Sanchalasana (Equastrian Pose)
  5. Chaturang Dandasana (Plank Pose)
  6. Ashtang Namaskar (Salute with Eight Parts)
  7. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)
  8. Adho Mukh Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose)
  9. Ashwa Sanchalasana (Equastrian Pose)
  10. Hastapadasana (Standing Forward Bens)
  11. Hastauttanasana (Raised Arm Pose)
  12. Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
