Looking back at the Covid-19 pandemic, we suffered through over two years of serious social and economic disruptions, along with a great amount of death and suffering caused directly by the disease. It took about a year since the beginning of the pandemic for the first vaccines to be rolled out, which were touted as being the sole linchpin to ultimately preventing the continued spread of Covid-19. Although I think the vaccines were helpful, I often wonder if there were better, or perhaps less risky approaches that could have been quicker/easier to implement and perhaps more cost effective.

One of these possible approaches that often comes to mind is vitamin D supplementation. Here, I will share some basics about vitamin D and immunity and share some of my retrospective thoughts on how the subject was handled with respect to Covid-19.
