Why You and I Will Never Look Like a Celebrity

I am sorry to bust your hopes and dreams, but I am one hundred percent sure that you will never look like a celebrity or influencer. Even when you walk around in the prettiest outfit of the world and in the best shape you have ever been in, you will still not look like Beyonce on her Instagram photos. But guess what, neither does she.

Let me tell you a very well kept secret. A secret everybody knows about, because of the amazing ability we tend to have to, you know, THINK. But funny enough everybody seems to ignore this “secret”. There are two main things that differentiate an influencers Instagram from the Instagram posts of a regular human being.

The two P’s : Photoshop and Posing!

This seriously should not come as a surprise to anybody. We all know about the two P’s. I mean, they break down a lot of peoples self esteems and bring out the majority of peoples body dysmorphia. Because, even though we know about these tricks, we think that we should be able to keep up without using them. If Kylie Jenner posts a picture of her, sipping coffee in the morning with a full face of make up on and posing in the best possible lighting to shrink in that waist and show those curves, we want to look like that. What we tend to forget, is the fact that she does does not look like that all the time. No, she looks like that as long as she holds her breath and her crew puts on the most flattering lighting. After that, she is just human! After that, she look like you and me, but in really good shape.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are all human and that we should strive to become the best version of ourselves. We need to understand that there is no “ perfect life or body”, but we are all unique and wonderful the way we are.

Yes, this is something I cannot forget to mention. There is obviously the fact that celebrities are mostly in amazing shapes. They often have really smooth skin, a beautifully tanned skin, fashionable outfits and a nice and toned body. But again, let’s not forget about the facts.

By that I mean the nutritionist most of these people have, as well as personal trainers. This automatically brings forth the benefits of a toned body and healthy skin. And, on the other hand, it is also their job to look good, so they put a lot of effort into their appearance.

But,( the big but) these things are actually abilities we have and can work on as well. Being in shape has nothing to do with being rich or famous. It is totally up to us, because guess what; Jennifer Lopez also needs to get herself into the gym and/or moving to stay fit. She also needs to eat healthy instead of fast food, to achieve that fabulous skin. Just like we do. So this is where we can all achieve amazing results.

But this still won’t make us look like a celebs Instagram photos 24/7. We will look better in daily life, but a photo is simply that. A photo. One single moment in time. If you optimize your lighting settings, posing and use that little bit of editing skill, you can look like a celeb. In ONE photo, for one second, and for that moment only.

I personally think it is worth it. Not necessarily the posing and shooting part, but the perks of looking well. I keep myself fit and healthy to get the daily benefit of looking better than the “unfit” version of myself. And sometimes I also take the time and effort out of my day, to take a photo that makes me look. Maybe even better than I actually do. But it is not a necessity, because I know that I’ll never be a second Ariana Grande, edited or not, and that’s okay. I don’t need to look perfect, because nobody is, but we can look our best!
