Living in downtown Toronto, I can attest to the pitfalls of urban life. My view, which I’ve loved for decades, was recently blocked by a new condominium complex. That’s to be expected in a big city, but it doesn’t make it any less deflating.

But there are upsides. Being in the thick of the action, I see a lot of life. My neighborhood recently morphed into a convention of glittery dresses and friendship bracelets as young women paid homage to their queen, Taylor Swift. Her Eras Tour took place in an arena so close I could practically hear the standing ovations.

Urbanites are also privy to some spectacular sights. This was my view of the 2024 solar eclipse, for example.

And then there’s the opening of The Well, a combination of residential, retail, dining, and commercial space two blocks over. It’s been in the works for years now, but I had no idea how innovative it would be until I did a walk-through.
