THE PENNY PUB
Penny Prompt Number 4
For the week of 12/25–12/31
--
NOTE: Due to Parasol Pub scheduling guidelines, some submissions will be scheduled 24 hours out. Because of this, our response deadline is SATURDAYS at NOON (US Eastern). Please make sure to check back on your story to see if editors have left you any private notes that need attention.
To those who celebrate, I wish you a very Merry Christmas today.
One of the things I’m enjoying about your responses is the uniqueness of the perspectives that are unearthed. Each submission is different and meaningful, and it’s given me great joy to read them. Thank you to all who have submitted responses over the previous weeks.
This Week’s Winners
Last week’s Top Story winner goes to Judy Walker, and our Engagement Winner is: Jill Ebstein
Thank you, and congratulations!
Our Top Story winner’s response will be featured in the drop-down tab on our Pub’s landing page. Both winners will be eligible for our monthly engagement cash prize of $25.
The monthly winner will be selected by random drawing from the names of the weekly winners. I will send the monthly winner’s cash through the tip function on their Medium account (winners must have the tip function activated to receive winnings).
Both weekly winners are invited to submit a writing prompt that may be used as one of our prompts in the future. To send me a prompt suggestion, please email me by clicking here. Our goal is to use the prompt suggestions; however, we reserve the right to pass on a suggested prompt.
Don’t forget to take a look at our Boosted Stories drop-down on The Penny Pub home page.
Important information
Responses should be between 500–1000 words (roughly 3–6 minutes), and please stay on our page a while and engage with a few writers while you’re here.
We will receive submissions for this week’s prompt until noon (US East Coast Time) on Saturday, 12/30.
Next week’s prompt will be posted at noon (US East Coast Time) on Monday, 1/1.
This week’s prompt
Share your thoughts about something you own — or something that was gifted to you — that, despite how expensive or inexpensive it is, holds great value to you.
Why does it hold value for you? Is it something you purchased, or was it a gift from someone? Would others see the value in it? Does the item symbolize something important to you?
Please note: To keep each week’s responses grouped together on our home page, it is necessary to use a tag that references that week’s prompt number. So, for this week, the tag is Penny4. We’d appreciate it if you could use that as one of your five tags. We don’t like changing tags, but we will need to do so in order to keep responses grouped properly.
Many thanks to Debra Urbacz, one of last week’s winners, for creating this week’s prompt.
Have fun, everyone!
