WILD: Stunning Images of the Pacific Crest Trail

Michael Laniak’s photos of one of the longest continuos footpaths in the world.

“These pictures are from a hike along one of the longest continuos footpaths in the world; The Pacific Crest Trail. Spanning the length of the United States from Mexico to Canada, the trail travels through California, Oregon and Washington; all very diverse landscapes. 2,668 miles. 150 days. 20 — 25 miles a day. It still sounds crazy to me.”

“From the hot-as-hell deserts in Southern California to the high peaks of the Sierras to the drenched, canopy-covered trails of Oregon and finally to the epic mountainous state of Washington. We truly did it all, and the photographs will show that.”

“In terms of the photography, I mostly focus on landscapes when I travel. Sometimes when I’m looking around it just hits me, and I’m thinking ‘That would be a cool picture.’ So, luckily I didn’t have to drop my pack a million times to grab my camera. I just waited for that shot. Most of them worked out too!”

“Now that I’m back, I’m beginning a career in advertising, but would like to continue with photography (just as a hobby). I’d like to focus on the urban landscape of Toronto. There are some pretty amazing things to see around here! Oh, and I’ll continue to adventure. The next trip is looking like a canoe trip down the Mackenzie River.”
