A Poem

Photo by Tyler Nix on Unsplash

Do not close this book just yet
I’ve got more grief to give
I’m not ready to leave this yet
Do you have it in you to forgive?

Please give me peace
If you find it inside
Grant that sweet release
From my own malfunctioning pride

The seeds I planted
For me to leave behind
Grew the weeds that render me
Render me blind

Though the sun still shines
No trees are present,
And so no shade to find
No reason to whine;
The sun don’t blind
Those who are already blind
