In Delhi, we have wonderful citizen’s associations that make it a meeting point for seniors so there is no loneliness through interaction with other seniors. We go out for picnics, nature walks and also to see many historical monuments.

Some time ago the historical monuments were in a ramshackle condition but the Archaeological Survey coupled with some good Trusts and Ministry of Culture has started restoring these sites.

Our association took us to see the Humayun Tomb. I used to see a lot of buses with people from all over the world visiting the Humayun Tomb but did not attempt to go and see it alone.

When the association decided to take us for a visit, I was delighted.

45 people signed up to take a tour of the place. We have an office boy who helps with the office jobs he laughingly said to me that he was amazed that so many people signed up just to visit a tomb.

It was not just a tomb when we saw it. It gave us a glimpse of our history. First of all it was a complete change. Restoration work made it beautiful and almost new as though it had just been built by coloring the walls.
