For the third post of the A-to-Z challenge, I will show my profile picture — light painting of my dear Asahi Spotmatic film camera. I’m a huge fan of vintage, and the charm of photography done the traditional way is irresistible.

Photography has the power to capture moments and memories, freeze time, and tell stories. The storytelling part is, indeed, part of the word “photography” — writing with light. Cameras have evolved significantly over the years, from the first camera obscura to the digital cameras of today. Capturing the perfect shot requires skill and creativity. While the features of the camera enable lots of freedom, they sometimes limit the development of our skills. That’s why I use both worlds.

I always take my ageing DSLR and my Spotmatic with a bunch of lenses that fit both of the cameras. Sometimes, I also add a precious find that I came across in a second-hand shop — a medium format 6x9 foldable camera. It’s amazing and fits nicely in a pocket while producing those huge frames that even give the feeling of having a large-format camera. It deserves a post of its own.
