Gold Lantana (photo author)

Beautiful yellow flowers on the hedge
Long stalks with yellow flowers
I picked them from someone’s yard
Back at home, in just some water
We exchanged smiles every time our eyes met
The flowers now call me a Thief!

Like all of us, a hole in the dirt
They will eventually end up in
Once settled in, they will give and give
Unlike us in the dirt, drenched, and dry
Soon I’ll have my own bright yellow…
