Our Last Day in Virginia

And, a few more flights of wine.

We had a wonderful weekend in an AirBnB with our daughter, Camille, and her partner, Mike. The AirBnB was a spacious 3 bedroom house in a wooded area about an hour outside Washington DC. We didn’t spend much time in the house however. During the weekend we drove through the Shenandoah Valley and visited several wineries. What fun.

Today we left the AirBnB to head to a favorite restaurant, The Wine Kitchen, in Leesburg, Virginia. They are known for their good food and of course, their wine flights.

I only got a photo of the first flight of wine that was sipped by my daughter. We had lunch followed by an awesome flourless chocolate cake that we all shared and a flight of dessert wines and small pieces of chocolate that we shared. After all, how many calories does one person need to consume in the form of pure sensory delight? We are good at taking bites and sharing bites, so it worked for all of us.

Now Gerad and I are sitting in the airport waiting for a flight out. This flight, however, is on an airplane. Our destination? Italy. I think there might be more flights of wine coming up soon in our future.

So, cheers. Safe flights, everyone.
