A while back, my granddaughter got into ventriloquist dummies and wanted this little cutie named Katy (the website she got it from spells it with an ‘ie’, but she spells it with a ‘y’). Katy also came with a cute outfit, but of course my granddaughter had to dress her in a different shirt and forego the pants.

We had so much fun putting on shows for the rest of the family that we both decided I needed my own dummy. Trying to choose one for me came with just as much fun and laughter. We finally decided on a girl with light brown hair that we named Emily. Here she is relaxing on the couch.

We’ve taken them everywhere. Car rides got even more fun than usual. Emily and Katy would sing along to songs on the radio and look out the window, often causing people to do a double take. Drive-thru reactions were usually the funniest. Some people just…
