Scratch My Wing Please!

Another Florida neighborhood walk.

It gets pretty buggy down there in the wet grass and swampy water.

It just itches. So much of the day is spent trying to get rid of the itching ants and other bugs. It involves fluffing out feathers and nibbling on each feather to get it clean. It is very time-consuming and difficult.

Sometimes though, it is really difficult to get the itch on the back of the head and wings. No matter how much stretching is involved, the itch continues because it is impossible to reach.

Happily, sometimes if you are lucky, a friend notices your struggle and starts to scratch just when and where you need it. Ahhh. Such a relief. I could hear him sighing and saying, “Thank you. Thank you so much.”

Did you go on a walk in your neighborhood today? What did you see in your backyard?
