Every day as we go about our lives and maneuver through the routines of work, school, errands, workouts, and social gatherings, we encounter countless strangers. Most of them blend into the background of our busy lives, barely registering a passing glance or a fleeting thought. Yet, among this sea of faces, there are those few individuals whose presence lingers in our minds long after the encounter has ended. We remember every detail about them — the way they smiled, the sound of their voice, the brief exchange of words — and, perhaps most significantly, how they made us feel in that brief moment of connection.

I’ve had a few strangers I’ll always remember: The beautiful elderly woman at the grocery store who ate mostly plant-based but wanted to try to indulge in a new frozen pizza ( she was the one who taught me it’s ok to have balance with eating healthy and eating junk food) The elderly woman I assisted in selecting chocolate candy for her friend, the German woman who shared her affection for gnomes and expressed her longing for her homeland, and the homeless girl I encountered in a New Orleans restroom…
