“It’s going to rain, Grandma!

Let’s look for some tadpoles!”

Backstory: My 11-year-old granddaughter and I walk together almost every evening. A favorite activity on our walks is to check for tadpoles in the rain ditches in the neighborhood. It had been dry for over a week, so the ditches were drying up. She was very concerned about the fate of the tadpoles. Would they develop into toads before the ditches were dry?

Then yesterday as she was being dropped off from school, the rain was starting to fall. She burst through the door excited about the rain and the tadpoles. Let’s go, Grandma! Let’s go for our walk! Who could ask for a more perfect activity to do with a granddaughter?
