The Southernmost waters of the world surround Antarctica. The experience of traveling a small portion of these waters was overwhelming and humbling.

From the Drake Passage, which can be smooth sailing or the extreme opposite, you are at the mercy of the weather and waters. On our trip, we experienced a bit of both.

To the glass-like bays and inlets, Antarctic waters are an area of the planet that is still being discovered and studied. We can learn so much about climate change and pollution in all areas of the earth from the Southern Ocean.

The day we pulled into Charlotte Bay in the Antarctic Peninsula can only be described as perfect. The weather was beautifully bright, sunny and calm. As we headed out in our Zodiacs, we were also presented with quite the wildlife show. Birds, seals and so many whales. We deemed it Whale-a-palooza. Incredible.

I am drawn to the mountains. I always have been. The mountains in Antarctica are immense, larger than any I’ve seen. Beautiful against the blue skies and waters I couldn’t resist capturing reflections in the waters of the bay.
