It’s no secret that Luke Danes is smitten with Lorelai Gilmore.

He has been from the first day she entered his diner and pestered him for coffee. We figure out pretty quickly even in the very opening scene of the entire show that they have chemistry.

Their relationship, including the will they or won’t they question, is one of the pillars of the entire series. (You’ll recall that trying to maintain that question’s tension led to some less-than-great episodes later in the series.)

As we near the end of Season 4, Lorelai has broken up with Jason. (Can we get a cheer for that breakup? Never liked the guy, though his dog Cyrus is hilarious.)

At that point, both Luke and Lorelai are FREE, no longer dating anyone else. The timing is finally right!

So now what?

How do we get a curmudgeonly dude with an eternal five o’clock shadow and nothing in his closet but flannel plaids to open up his heart to feisty, life-of-the-party Lorelai?
