A couple of months ago, I saw an article on Substack that made me stop and read—this doesn’t happen very often, as I tend to find myself overwhelmed by the amount of content out there.

The article Navigating Your Nervous System Through Horror Movies is written by the wonderful Margaret Bell, LPC, SEP, CT, a Trauma & Grief Specialist, Thanatologist, Licensed Counselor & Somatic Practitioner, and Horror Media Connoisseur.

This article explains, very visually and efficiently, what happens in the brain when we watch horror and how it can benefit us from a mental health perspective.

I also talked about this in an article a while ago here on Medium, but maybe not so graciously.
