What does my heart desire?
‘Follow your heart’ is such bad advice. Follow your actions instead
But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway.
Then the father told his other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go.“Which of the two obeyed his father?”
“I love you. Use all of me for your glory”
Sometimes, these are the words I say to God in the morning when I pray, but when the day is over my actions would have gone along the lines of:
“I love the idea of you and give me space to use me for my glory”
Those words will never come out of my mouth, so how did my actions somehow blast them through a megaphone?
Through my Priorities. What we truly want is evident in what we prioritize. How do I even love who I don’t spend time with?
You define what is important to you by what you dedicate your time to.
I spend more time on twitter so I actually desire a platform
I spend more time thinking about my goals so I desire the idea of success rather than the work required.
What are you giving your time and attention to? There. That’s the current focus of your life.
How do you know what you really want? The answers are laid bare in the actions you frequently perform, not what you think you want or what you plan to achieve.
“Ultimately we will become what we give our hearts to, for we are shaped by what we desire and seek after.” –Sheri L. Dew
So what do you desire?
Your actions stand tall to give an answer.
But You may not like the answers.
