The CIF-Southern Section released preaseason polls for wrestling and boys and girls soccer on Monday. The boys and girls basketball polls won’t be released until Dec. 14.

There’s not a ton of High Desert representation in these polls. Does that forecast a down year in winter sports (a season in which we typically have at least one soccer team making a deep run and some very good wrestling)? Or will local teams find their way into the polls once play starts? Time will tell.

Here’s a look at the local teams involved:

Boys Soccer

High Desert teams will start the year just outside of the top 10 for both Division 4 (Mojave River League teams) and Div. 5 (Desert Sky League teams).
