Old Age is Light Blue

A blue hue of mixed up with green,
with light from a sunny day,
I strolled around life’s ups and downs,
yesterday I lived with clouds,
but today I saw,
an old couple kiss on a field of flowers.

It was beautiful to see,
wisdom gazed into the eyes of timeless elegance,
a rarity that doesn’t happen when we stress ourselves,
calm instead stroke their silver hair,
an effort was made to spot each other’s inner beauty.

My young age was jealous of their moment,
they had everything I was lacking,
a moment of truth,
love for one another,
and they showcased timeless elegance for everyone else to spot so naturally.

As I walked past them and looked over my shoulders,
I saw a moment locked in time,
as an old weathered hand grabbed another,
a knee was then bent,
a marriage proposal had just been made,
a sunny day right there,
on a field of blue flowers.

Smiles met smiles,
joy turned into overjoyed,
even I broke through all the cloudy thoughts,
they did things right for each other,
not wasting a single moment,
I felt a deep appreciation for old age.

I thanked my curiosity,
I’m so happy that I looked over my shoulders that day,
that sunny day.
with blue hues mixed up with green.
