The Lonely Lantern

A poem about a soul plagued by bad habits. It takes the lonely road of solitude and depression.

Life twist and turns,
becoming too much to handle,
a lantern pulled out its own light,
it lost more friendships with each passing day.

The dreaded solitude,
an existence in complete darkness,
a rare by-passers hand,
no longer knowing in what direction to wave its hello.

The sheriff of law and order,
failed to arrest the influence of the outlaws,
habits in a souls life continued,
a consciousness unaware of its destructive force.

A train through the American wild west,
outlaws robbing you of your hearts possessions,
stealing away its good emotions,
leaving only desperation and fear behind.

A broken man,
foolish and unaware,
a train allowed to leave the station,
its next stop being a town of depression.
