The text NFT “ameriCAN’T airLIES” surged on Friday, leapfrogging thousands of other NFTs to become the most-traded and highest-volume NFT on text NFT marketplace In Writing.

The text NFT of “ameriCAN’T airLIES”, a play-on-words mocking U.S.-based airline corporation American Airlines, is part of a larger NFT collection titled ‘fuck american airlines’ and saw a 400% increase in activity in the past 24 hours for a total volume of over 1100 MATIC (~$874 USD).

This is the latest in a series of controversial events surrounding the air travel company, including an instance where a child was bullied and prevented from boarding a flight for having a small tear on her passport and offered no refund and a global increase in delays and cancellations due to a shortage of 14,000 pilots and over 20,000 employees.

While no response was received from the NFT collections’ original minter, it can be implied through their other text NFTs (pictured below) that the user holds a grudge against American Airlines and is undoubtedly happy to have received hundreds of MATIC in secondary sale royalty fees putting down the airline.

As the crypto market undergoes another crash, it’s inspiring to see various Web3 projects and sub-branches such as this “ameriCAN’T airLIES” NFT and the CryptoDickButt collection continue to prevail and prove the resilience and value behind blockchain technologies.
