TLDR: Just reply to the comment or post you want to mint with “/u/MintThis”! The bot will reply with a link to your minted text NFT for you to claim.

Reddit’s highly popular CryptoSnoos NFTs caused a stir with their great combination of Web2 and Web3 technology, ease-of-use, and success in converting people unfamiliar with NFTs and Web3 to NFT holders and Web3 believers. The most popular of CryptoSnoo NFTs have sold for over $200,000 USD, and Reddit has also seen success with their Moons tokens and other cryptocurrency projects. The latest Web3 trend on Reddit, while not officially endorsed (yet), is minting posts and comments themselves on Reddit as unique text NFTs.

Text NFTs?

Reddit is a text-based discussion platform, so it makes sense that the next big Reddit NFT trend would be text-based as well. While CryptoSnoos are digital jpegs, these Reddit post/comment text NFTs are literally unique buyable, sellable, and tradable text digital collectibles made possible through In Writing, the biggest text NFT platform, and stored directly on the Polygon blockchain. That means that when you mint or buy a text NFT of a specific text, no one else can ever mint that same text again.

These text NFTs also follow the sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices of Reddit’s other text NFTs — they’re incredibly low in environmental emissions and are nearly carbon neutral — and can also be bought, sold, and traded on other digital collectible platforms such as OpenSea.

How do I mint them?

Step 1: Reply to the post or comment you want to mint and mention /u/MintThis in your comment.

The MintThis bot will pick up your request and mint the text as an NFT (assuming it hasn’t already been minted!).

Step 2: Click on the link /u/MintThis bot will reply with (or message you with) and claim your text NFT for 1 MATIC (a cryptocurrency worth about ~70 cents). If you’re wondering how to get MATIC, check out this Forbes article or buy it on a site like crypto.com. If you’re wondering how to get a crypto wallet, we recommend MetaMask!

If you’ve already got MATIC and a MetaMask wallet, just click ‘buy’ on In Writing and voila! You’ve got your first Reddit text NFT.

Web3, cryptocurrency, and NFTs have been in the headlines for almost two years now, and the industry continues to innovate at rapid speed. Reddit alone has seen cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and now text NFTs spread like wildfire across their platform, and if you see something funny, insightful, or otherwise noteworthy on Reddit, make sure to mint it as an NFT! It’s as simple as replying to the post with /u/MintThis, and you never know what could sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars in the future ;).

Good luck, and happy Redditing!
