Actually, I do judge a book by it’s cover.
Yep. There, I said it.
I’d be lying if I said I don’t enjoy a visually appealing book. Honestly, I believe that most people, (especially millennials), do.
Not only do I judge books by their cover when I browse my local bookstore, but it is also the job of the publisher to grab your attention based on the cover. Beautiful covers are for a reason: to sell the book.
There is even a game that lets you judge books by their cover and see how your rating stacks up to the Goodreads community. It’s one of my favorite ways to waste five minutes of my time; and, I highly recommend playing it when you have something important to do.
Even better than the game, is a book from Penguin that is an English and Art major’s wet dream.
As most English majors tend to do, I have a fondness for the status and visual appeal of Penguin Classic editions.
This book takes your favorite classics and gives you an Art History lesson on the cover design(s) each story has worn over the years.
It’s a fascinating and beautiful read — the perfect coffee table book! I recommend it for any judgmental reader and fellow literature nerd.
