Unprecedented times

We are currently living in very challenging times globally. The #coronavirus pandemic has brought the whole world to its knees and everything to a virtual standstill. There will be a definite impact — on the lives, livelihood, economies, organizations, and countries as a whole.

But we also live in times of extreme connectivity. We are far more networked than before. The surge of information is unprecedented and so is the need to know more, learn more and share more.

The free flow of information is overwhelming and with it comes the inactivity that we have been subjected to due to the #lockdown in the country. This is the time when we as humans have to keep sanity in check and try using this time of global seclusion to hone up our lives’ skills and get out of our real comfort zones.

Thrown off-guard

In India, on one side we saw a big win for the crypto community where the H’ble Supreme Court of India reversed the RBI’s banking moratorium on crypto businesses; on the other, we are witnessing the onslaught of a global pandemic.

The #crpyto community of the country was jubilant and virtually celebrating a new found freedom to express in cryptocurrencies. The exchanges, traders, enthusiasts were all gung-ho and we were hearing about rising trading volumes and user bases. We also saw some old interested parties who wanted to invest in cryptos, coming back and enquiring about putting money.

That has not slowed down — as people are at home — and we are looking at a longer lockdown period. What we think is missing was the continuous networking and interaction between people. We have been completely thrown off-guard and all our plans have been put to rest or to a snail’s pace.

Going online — the only way out

In the month of March 2020, we announced to the world that we are going to organize a flurry of weekend events in multiple cities. We had started off well with two simultaneous events (more on that later) in Gurgaon and Bengaluru on 7th of March. Here is our ambitious calender.

Our earlier event roadmap for Mar/Apr/May 2020

So while we all moved home to work, we also realized the need for everyone to have access to the best and most useful content online and have continued dialogues.

This is when we knew, that in order to live by our motto of bridging the gap between society and emerging tech, we had to go online and make the most of this lockdown and keep engaging our network of blockchain and crypto companies and the community at large.

We are hence coming up with another ambitious flurry of online events starting with a series of Roundtable discussions. This we are hopeful will reactivate the community and get them engage in meaningful conversations on topic of their choice.

Online makes it easier and inexpensive to host meetings. Especially from the confines of your living room, or home office or dining table. This we believe will also start a trend as well as become the new norm across the world.

Keep watching this space for more.
