VR living in interesting times

I love my Oculus Go. It is a standalone Virtual Reality Headset with a controller and three degrees of freedom (you can rotate your head and hand) to experience content in 360 degrees.

Since the time I purchased it in July of 2018, I have been using it regularly — about four times a week and logging about 12 hours.

In this article, I would like to share with you three apps that I use on Oculus Go to view 360 VR content.

You can learn more about Oculus Go by visiting the official website.

WITHIN

Extraordinary Stories in Virtual Reality. Within brings together the best immersive experiences from the world’s finest VR creators — from gripping tales set in worlds of pure imagination to documentaries taking viewers further inside the news than ever before.

Some of the most memorable experiences in WITHIN for me so far are:

VEER

Global VR Content Community. As VR creation and consumption is becoming more accessible to everyday users, VeeR’s vision is to be the natural platform for everyone to express their creativity, promote their works, and engage in community. VeeR gives its users the platform, tools, support, and know-how necessary for creating remarkably immersive and stunning VR videos.

What I find useful is that creating an account on VeeR allows you to like videos in the web browser and then access them from within Oculus Go and vice-versa.

VeeR also allows you to upload 360 images created in Microsoft Maquette — a Mixed Reality tool for prototyping ideas in VR.

Content-wise, I have watched some really good 360 videos on VeeR. Following are some of my favorite so far:

Samsung VR

Explore New Worlds. Samsung VR lets you fully explore 360 videos across every device.

Samsung VR allows you to create and share 360 content. To have a more seamless experience, you can link the Samsung VR Oculus Go app to your web account. It also allows you to watch video straight from Vimeo.

Following are some of my favorite 360 media that I watched on Samsung VR:

Watching media in 360 gives me a much better feeling since I feel more immersed and view more context where the action takes place.

I will share more as I come across. What are your favorite 360 apps?

Thank you,
