Focus on the person

UX design in virtual reality is a system of solutions.

The quality of these solutions determines the integrity, production and resultant efficiency of the project.

To determine an effective solution, you need to conduct research and define a task.

To determine the priorities of the system, highlighting the focal point.

Defining the conceptual level of the system, it is necessary to clearly understand “for whom?” this project.

A way to create an effective solution for people is to study in detail and understand their needs and then develop a product based on that knowledge.

The stages forming the UX analysis:

Each stage takes place in two phases:

1. Divergent / divergent phase is searching for multiple solutions to the same problem.

2. Convergent / convergent phase is precise use of solution instructions.

Step 1: Empathy:

For UX design in virtual reality — Empathy is important.

  • Empathy -the ability to empathize/sympathize. Perceive their and others ‘ emotions which occur in specific situation.
  • Empathy we need to develop intelligently.
  • a Key moment of empathy-empathy occurs consciously. You experience the same feelings, but you understand the external origin of these feelings.

Empathy is what you do on purpose.

Remember: Players are real people with their own desires and views of the world.

The task of the UX designer is to understand what people do, why they do it, how they see the world around them, what values they have, and learn about their emotional and physical needs.

Decision:

1. Test experience on the task force.

2. Video Game behavior. How the Player interacts / what does inside the project.

3. Record Observations in the abstract/paras.

4. Questions after immersion experiments in Virtual reality.

- Ask five questions “Why”?

- Avoid “closed questions “ — those that involve” Yes “or”no” answers.

5. Identify the Situation / Frame that reproduces the experience in Virtual Reality.

6. Determine how Space fits into the rules of this frame

After collecting information-it is necessary to formulate a theory and develop a system and optimize its performance.

Stage 2: Focus:

- The only way to find the right solution is to understand the problem.

Analysis of the system is carried out at the conceptual level, by a group of persons with responsibility in their field.

It is important to visualize the decomposition of the project, as at this stage laid the goal of the system.

Focus purpose-to formulate the focus of the project.

Focus creates criteria for evaluating different ideas.

Analysis of user behavior inside the experience in Virtual reality:

1. To break the behavioral blocks to the clusters.

2. Select “Types” / person-models.

Step 3: Generation of ideas:

The formation of ideas should take place in a group where everyone has their share of responsibility, highlighted by the Product Owner taking the final decision.

The discussion is based on the search for forming solutions. It does not take time to criticize ideas, but to develop new ones.

The decision is made by the Product Owner.

Ideas are recorded and visualized.

A clear time frame for discussion.

Step 4: selecting an idea

Decision making responsible in its field and in its level of interaction with the system.

Step 5: Prototyping

The number of iterations increases the quality.

Step 6: Test

Feedback.

Tools of objectification:

The 12 people in the groups forming the mental image

12 people of one social / target group are able to form a mental image of this group.

It works because it’s a biological mechanism for adapting our brains. Perception of needs be able adapt under those groups/the packs/clans/tribes in which it is mired.

Ux designer who wants to understand his audience, should immerse themselves in communication to form inside the image of a representative of this audience/group.

The parallax offset:

1. Dive into the user experience.

2. Focus on personal behavior and action scenarios.

Questions of the lens system, allowing to develop the image of the user:

• Who is my audience?

• Why exactly would they be interested in this decision?

• This is consistent with the goals/tasks that the user knows from his personal experience?

• This is an amazing experience for the player?

• Is this experience understandable to the Player?

• What feelings should this experience reproduce?

• How can this experience be recreated through the elements of the game?

• Why is the experience valuable?

  • What are the goals you put in front of the Player in this system?
