‘How to be an anti-racist company’ puts forward the argument that popular approaches to fostering diversity and inclusion are insufficient because they do not address the underlying causative factors that require diversity policies in the first place.

The webinar advances the idea that our common definition of racism is incomplete largely because it does not touch on the damaging effects of systemic racism.

We go back through history to understand the origins of the concept of race, and examine how we have been conditioned to see the world through the lens of race for centuries now.

The main takeaway from the webinar is that in order to successfully engender diversity as a company value, one has to promote being an anti-racist first i.e actively and rigorously challenging systemic racism in society.

Worksheets include a matrix on ‘Approaches to tackling racism’ and a ‘Diversity Profile’ to help us take stock of the multicultural diversity in our lives.
